On Tuesday night Midas was king. The impressive young MC surgically removed the flow of fellow rapper A-Class like a Grey's Anatomy episode, at Red Maple's weekly Always Dope party. 

Though there were several rounds of battles, the only one that wowed the crowd was the Midas vs. A-Class. Rapping is like breathing to Midas, whose rhymes came so fast and furious that Vin Diesel took a knee.

Always Dope, sponsored by the cutting edge urban wear store PedEx in Fells Point, is a newest edition to the city's growing, diverse club scene. That a club like Red Maple was packed on a Tuesday night is a testament to the awesomeness of the night. 

Any preconceived notions you have about Maple, you should really open your mind and give the club a shot as it's been hosting some of the most experimental theme nights in the city. 

Back on the battle front, Midas was tearing up A-Class in front of a diverse crowd of Canton girls and West side boys. Rapping seemed like breathing to the incredibly relaxed Midas, while his opponent's (truth, sorry Class) weak flow was gasping for air and stalling with dozens of "yo, yo, yos" and such. 

The crowd, which was supportive animated and controlled with deft hand by the reining MC of the evening, overwhelmingly chose Midas. Like Thunderdome, two men entered, one man left. 

Congrats Midas, and hopefully we'll have the pleasure of peeping at the next rap battle that come to the Maple.
