Electroclash musician Peaches is know for her provocative appearance and sexually explicit lyrics. The Canadian performer programs her own beats, plays her own instruments, and produces her own albums, then gives them names like Fatherfucker and Impeach My Bush. Songs like 'Set It Off' and 'Fuck the Pain Away' may have made her a favourite on the London gay scene, but she's insistent on breaking down barriers between gender and sexuality with her appearance, album covers and stage shows. Before you became Peaches you were a dance and drama teacher, at what point did you decide you wanted to be a live performer and producer full time?

I was doing it all at the same time. It’s like the movie Flashdance where she is a welder by day and a dancer by night.

You play almost all the instruments for your songs, you program your own beats and you produce your own records. Do you prefer performing live or working in the studio where you can make all your own sounds?

Performing is immediate satisfaction and studio takes time. I like the immediate!
