Singer songwriter Dawn Kinnard releases her second album, Wrong Side of the Dream, on the 13^th.  As well as possessing the kind of raspy yet honey-coated voice that evokes images of late night confessions, the taste of whiskey and cigarette smoke, her songwriting is witty, dark and with a touch of humour.

Upon meeting Kinnard in what is possibly the quietest pub in Notting Hill, the first thing that strikes me about her is her incredibly soft voice. She is extremely courteous and seems to become more beautiful the more she talks and pauses for thought between each sentence.

Here’s the colourful ZX Spectrum-inspired video for ‘Blackstar’, the single from Richy Pitch’s album Ye Fri Mi. Producer and DJ Richy Pitch moved from the UK to Ghana to make the album, giving him the chance to combine his Western music production with Afrobeat, Hiplife and African percussion.
